Colwyn Bay put pressure on league leaders Lancaster City with these three precious points at Irongate following a gutsy display after being reduced to ten men just before the break. With the score all square at 1-1 the ten Welsh heroes snatched the points with a goal deep in the second half despite a prolonged onslaught from a very strong Bamber Bridge side.

Brig enjoyed most of the early running and came close on 15 minutes when Ryan Williams cleared off the Bay goal-line following a snap-shot by Ashley Dunn. However, the visitors took the lead ten minutes later when ALEX TITCHNER took advantage of a slip by Brig centre-half Michael Welch to drive home from six yards with the home goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe left exposed.

Bamber Bridge gave their high-flying visitors something to think about with some inventive play and their cause was given a boost on 40 minutes when ‘Seagulls’ full-back Anthony Denson was sent-off for a wildly rash challenge on James Heywood. Four minutes later the score was level when PETER WRIGHT pushed the ball home from close in following a goalmouth scramble, for his third goal in as many games.

As expected the home side came out fighting after the break and dominated proceedings for long periods. However, the Welshmen defended their lines superbly and audaciously grabbed the winner in the 70th minute when IAN SHERIDAN scored with a thumping header following a fine run and cross from the right by Greg Stones.
