Darren Green Returns ‘Home’ To ‘Brig’
After a short stay at Clitheroe midfielder Darren Green has returned for a second spell at Bamber Bridge.
Darren made a dramatic appearance for the Shawbridge club against ‘Brig’ back on the 16th August when he was introduced as a substitute goalkeeper after only 9 minutes play when ‘Blues’ number-one, Zach Hibbert had to retire injured following a collision with ‘Brig’s’ Greg Johnstone.
Preston lad, Darren is keen to make an impact with the South Ribble side this time around after making just 11 starts and scoring 3 goals for the club last season. He made his debut for ‘Brig’ on the 4th September 2010 at Irongate against Cammell Laird in the First Division North in a game Bamber Bridge won 1-0.
Darren is hoping to be included in the line-up against Curzon Ashton on Saturday, as ‘Brig’ look to get back on track following the disappointing 0-4 defeat at home to Warrington Town in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup during the week.
Second placed Curzon Ashton arrive at Bamber Bridge undefeated in the First Division North this season, having won seven and drawn one of their opening eight fixtures. They will be keen to avenge their recent elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of ‘Brig’ in what was a cracking cup tie.
If Saturday’s game can reach the level of entertainment witnessed in the cup games between the sides, then we are in for a treat.
