Easter Monday Sponsored Walk

Date Posted : 11th March 2008

On Easter Monday (24th March) Terry Gammans (BBFC Chairman), Phil Entwistle (BBFC Manager) and Neil Crowe (BBFC Assistant Manager) will be walking from the Chorley Nissan Victory Park Stadium to Irongate AND BACK to raise funds for the 'Support Our Sal' Appeal and Bamber Bridge Football Club.

For more details about Sally Ann Wallace, her tragic accident and her determination to compete in the Paralympics please click here.

Terry, Phil & Neil will set off from Chorley at 08:00 on Monday 24th March 2008 for the walk to Irongate. Hoping to arrive around 10:00 and stopping only for a quick brew and a bacon barm before they set off back to Chorley at 10:30 prompt.

ALL SUPPORTERS ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE INTREPID TRIO FOR THE RETURN LEG, WALKING FROM IRONGATE TO THE CHORLEY NISSAN VICTORY PARK STADIUM.

If you fancy doing the 7.1 miles between Brig and Chorley please register at the BBFC Club House bar and get a sponsorship form.

Most sponsors are raising funds 50 / 50 for 'Support Our Sal' Appeal and BBFC, but its up to each individual walker whether they support Sally Ann, the club or both. (It might help if you make this clear on your sponsor form so sponsors know what they are giving money to.)

Bacon barms will be served to all walkers from 10:00 in the BBFC Club House, and anyone that wants to wear a BBFC shirt for the walk will be lent one (Sorry, we MUST have these back!) and set off for Chorley at 10:30 sharp.

Whilst Terry, Phil and Neil will be setting a fast pace, there are plenty of pubs between Irongate and Chorley so the other walkers will be stopping for ‘a few scoops’ on the way.

Once we get to Chorley we can shout Brig onto another victory!

The event will be widely covered in the local press, including (hopefully!) the Lancashire Evening Post, Citizen Group, Chorley & Leyland Guardians.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

*** 2 or 3 people to rattle buckets to raise money at Chorleys’ stadium from 2:15pm until 3:00pm. (All money raised with buckets at Chorley will go to 'Support our Sal' Appeal)

*** Drivers with vehicles to give lifts back to Brig for the walkers.

If you can help with either of these jobs please contact Phil Entwistle – mobile number is on the official website.

Note: Supporters of Chorley FC are also walking and raising money for their own causes.
