Boston and may be Halifax to Join UniBond

Date Posted : 13th June 2008

Decisions made by The FA this week means that recent Football League clubs Boston United and possibly Halifax Town will be part of the UniBond League fixture list next season.

Boston United’s appeal against the Conference decision to expel them was dismissed by an FA Appeal Board and they have now been allocated to the UniBond Premier Division in place of Vauxhall Motors who avoid relegation from the Blue Square North.

Similarly Halifax Town had their Conference expulsion appeal dismissed but were not directly placed in to any league due to uncertainties regarding the financial situation of either the existing club or any plans for a new club which may be formed to replace the West Yorkshire outfit.Depending on any quick decisions being made at Halifax, the UniBond League has offered a place in their First Division North subject to the club applying for membership and satisfying a number of conditions.

If Halifax Town under whichever constitution satisfies these conditions their place in the First Division North will be as an extra club making the number of clubs 21 for that division.
